To the Editor:
Buildings alone cannot improve the education of Greene County students.
An expanded curriculum and dedicated and well-paid teachers can.
Our children “deserve” an outstanding education, not keeping up with other school districts and their athletic complexes.
I think the board should courageously increase the levy to pay for 21st-century educations for our children, not for a new gym. Use the money gained by a higher levy to recruit outstanding and dedicated young teachers to our rural area and lure veteran teachers who will be proud to teach in a district that produces rigorously educated graduates.
Vote “No” for a new gym. Say “Yes” when the school board decides to pay for education, not athletics.
